bucket list: angry birds

OH BOY. these are the only words i have for this manicure. oh boy oh boy oh boy. this mani took me 6 freakin hours to do.. over the span of 2 days! and in the end i wish i wouldn't have spent that much time on this. i mean in reality its a cool idea but actually doing it? a WHOLE different story. some of the nails i think look kind of decent while others i want to take the polish right off asap. i don't ever show my right hand and you will see why. its not too hot looking...very unsteady. but you gotta show all the birds right? if i ever do this again i have already been coming up with new ideas. i don't even know how many layers are on some of these nails! 4 or 5 maybe? too many! a lot of ice water was used! haha with each nail I'm including a pic of the actual bird. i didn't put pics of the pigs though. well, here it goes...

left hand... not too bad

i don't think these birds have names so ill just call them by color. he's actually pretty decent. the beak got kinda messy but what could i do. looking at this pic i realize i forgot his yellow cheeks. oh well..

to the first pig! he's not too bad either! i think he's the best one out of the 3 pigs.

black bird! oh lordy! this one got screwed up when it came to the beak. looks nothing like it. and the yellow tip i forgot about till after i was done so it looks kinda retorted with how transparent it is. had to touch this one up for pics.. the gray was already starting to wear. mine doesn't look as tough as the real one!

the green bird! i don't think he looks too bad! the green starts to kind of blend with the blue but irl you can see the difference. at first i really hated the beak, but now its grown on me. i think it looks pretty good!

the second piggy!

anddddd on to the right hand. i had SOOO much trouble trying to take pictures of this hand. soooo these are all vertical. i need to become ambidextrous (is that the word???)

yellow birdie! i think he looks good for being on my right hand.. minus the eyebrows. ohh those eyebrows are killing me. they got wayyy too thick.

this ones by far my favorite.. and its on my right hand! i think its just because this is the classic bird. before i could take a pic though, the white got all screwy because of all the layers and it messed with the beak! the beak was a perfect triangle till that happened.
angry birds Pictures, Images and Photos

the third and ugliest piggy.

i would love to just completely erase this one. i should have redone it but i was too sick of painting by that time. i didnt even want to show it buttt i gotta show the good and the bad huh? enough is enough though...i don't even want to talk about this one.

and last but not least the little blue bird! he's too cute! although his feathers on top kind of look like rabbit ears. his eyes are crazy looking too haha.

oh I'm so glad to be done with this mani. pretty sure I'm going to take it off tomorrow or thurs because I'm pretty sick of looking at it. the next one will be so simple ill probably fall asleep! now off to do some homework and stay warm. its snowing here =D

Thanksgiving mani!

happy (late) thanksgiving to everyone! didn't have time to post on thanksgiving and def not yesterday. i went shopping at 5pm thursday and had to be to work at 5am friday so no sleep haha! but i thought this mani was super festive. i really hate the colors but those are thanksgiving-ish colors so i used them. I've seen a lot of these stripe manis so i decided to try one because i couldn't decide on just one color. and then of course i had to add a turkey! he's so cute =D

such a bright mani! reds, golds, green, orange, and yellow!

trying to get different pictures to show my whole nails

Bucket List: half moon

heres the first mani after i decided to start my "bucket list." its a classic half moon mani. after painting and going through some ups and downs with those darn paper reinforcements i finally got this done. i like the design itself, but i don't like my color choices. both are too dark and its kind of hard to see the two different colors from afar. i also learned a lesson to use a top coat over the first color AFTER i painted all my nails. thats why i need to do a practice on my nail wheel first! but it turned out alright...its kind of lumpy on the black where i had to go over where the paper reinforcement pulled off the polish. but, here it is!

i really love the purple, but its too dark to pair with the black

it looks alright, don't ya think? i do wish my pointer finger would be more square though. =[

you can see the slight difference. you can also see that random slitter sparkle that i didn't notice until i put the top coat on >=[.

i love this purple. its OPI Pepes Purple Passion, and then the black is Sally Hansen Black Out. i didn't take pics of the bottles =/

a picture of me and my boyfriend during our cities holiday festivities. there was a gingerbread contest and hot chocolate and carolers and fireworks! it was a lot of fun. <33

a new thought... any opinions, tips, or advice?

i would LOVE to start making my own polishes. that would be such an awesome thing to do. I'm not talking open my own store with thousands of polishes but make a few for me and then for friends and so on. I've seen quite a few of you that have your own stores and i was just wondering how you got started out. do you use a certain recipe to make your polishes. I'm not trying to copy anyone or anything i would just like to experiment and need a place to start. any suggestions would be much appreciated =D

thanks!
Brianna

Nails inc magnetic!

Oh how i loveee this polish! seriously the coolest stuff ever. each nail is a little bit different! its a wonderful purple color and i decided to add my new matte coat over the top. i dunno why, but i love matte more than gloss sometimes. makes it look better i think with certain polishes and i think this is one of them. i think i like the polish so much because its not a super flashy design - but there is something there. sometimes i just want a little oomph!

on the second nail i painted, i figured id try something different. i thought putting the magnet a different way would still give it the same effect but i guess not. it just kinda made it all blurry. granted my picture is a tad blurry, but thats close to what it looked like (i painted these the same night i took pics of all my new polishes, hence the camera difficulties, but i edited these to make them less yellow). i guess the magnet has to go the same direction every time. if anyone wants to see the bottle, see the previous post here.

here it is shiny...i know bad pic. I'm just not the biggest fan of it shiny.

ahhhh heres the beautiful color in matte. the polish is called Houses of Parliament and its by Nails Inc. the polish actually is kind of thick when you apply it... I'm thinking that is because of whatever properties are in it to make it magnetic. but thats just a thought. even though it was thick, it applied really smooth. no clumps or lumps! this was 2 coats of Houses of Parliament and 1 coat of Warpaint Beauty Mattify.

i just love the designs it makes. something elegant and subtle.

can see it up close here

and again!

I decided today during my lunch break that I'm going to do a sort of "bucket list" (minus the dying of course lol) of nail polish designs i want to try. i think its a good idea for me! I'm a listy person and can never think of designs until after. soooo here is the list:

birthday polishes i got!

first off I'm apologizing for the crappy pics. i messed with my camera so much to get rid of the yellow. did everything i could think of. oh well you can get the gist lol. but heres my bday nail polish! i loveeee everything i got and immediately painted my nails with one of them. pictures probably coming on tuesday; don't have time tomm and too pissed at my camera tonight. ok here we go!

OPI! muppet collection =] i didn't get the whole collection because the other colors i really didn't like. but i got such a good deal on the ones i got. love that my aunt sells them to me at the price they buy them for ($5) =D

again SORRY for the crappy pics. ugh these look even more horrible than i thought. but heres Pepes Purple Passion and Gone Gonzo!

heres Rainbow Connection and Designer... De Better! I'm really going to try to get better pictures in the next few days... not that you guys haven't seen these swatches already i bet. =P

and heres Warm & Fozzie. I LOVEEE this color and can't wait to use it!

and now onto Sinful Colors! these pics still look yellow but they look sooooo much better than the OPI's do. i love all these colors. i really wanted to get some brightttt colors.

here are Hazard and Innocent

Hottie and Happy Ending

Unicorn and Dream On

and now onto the most awesome nail polishes in the world. these are fricken ridiculous! the first is the magnetic I've been hearing about! the sephora near me doesn't have either of these polishes in stock because its within a JC Pennys. =[[ boooo! so while i was down in Novi shopping i thought id go to their sephora and look and see. and SUCCESS! they had not only the magnetic but also the special effects =D there was one employee walking around showing people the special effects and i feel in love immediately. only downfall? $20 for the set =[ ugh i bought it anyways. the magnetic was $16 i think. but anyhoo these are both amazing polishes. tried both out on my grandma right away (she was the only one to volunteer her nails to me). i used the magnetic for my polish right now, and changed it up a little. i also experimented with the magnet... all of which ill post tuesday like i said. but anyways the other 2 are a special effects polish thats almost i guess... holographic? i don't really know what it is but its awesome.

magnetic polish in Houses of Parliament (its a purple color)

and the special effects in The Wyndham and Kensington (a green color)

and last but not least some top coats. I've been wanting to get a matte top coat for a while now. i really love the matte color and have been eyeballing this mani (the top zebra stripe one) from Deez Nails. she has the most amazing blog and I'm constantly inspired by her manis. and then the black crackle I've been wanting too. i have a turquoise and a silver one but I've been wanting a black too. i was a little hesitant on buying nail polish from hot topic... i dunno why. but as you'll see tuesday i used the matte top coat and it works REALLY well. i love it even more than i thought i would. =D

they even named them nicely. Mattify and Volcano

bday polish haul coming soon!

i will get all the polishes that i picked out for my birthday tomorrow! therefore, i will do a bigg post on everything i got!

talk to you guys tomorrow!

20th birthday mani!

first off look at the wonderful flowers my boyfriend got me for my birthday! they are so pretty. he made yesterday the most wonderful day ever!

and now to the bday mani! i wanted to do something super festive and what better polish to use than a multi-colored confetti!? i absolutely love this polish and had to have it as soon as i bought it. it was an early bday present =D its so fun and colorful. reminds me of confetti cake, which is kinda made more to look like the cake by the white base coat. just noticed that haha. anyways, this was 2 coats of white and 2 or 3 coats of the confetti.

and of course i can't just polish my nails. i need to have SOMETHING else on them. so i added a 20 in blue for how old i turned!

looks like the cake doesn't it! so fun and festive!

and theres the 20. sorry its super dark. i was having trouble with the light shining on the 20 so that you couldn't see anything.

i used the polishes OPI Alpine Snow, OPI Rainbow Connection, and Sally Hansen Blue Me Away!
